Datsun 240Z vs Baja

BREJumpsm1

Datsun icon and off road racing legend Peter Brock built and drove this Datsun 240Z in the 1972 Baja 500. The car was recently stripped and lovingly restored by Carl Beck of Z Home.com fame. Check out this link where the restored car was reunited with Brock.

There’s a photo that is captioned “BRE’s radical entry in the 1970 Baja 1000”. This must be a typo, because that car pictured didn’t exist in 1970. The trim changes (vent on the 1/4 panel sail) didn’t appear on production cars until late 1971. I have an early example of a ’70 240Z, ser# HLS300001526. The rear vents were still in the hatch for the entire first year production run.
Aside from this insignificant bit of carping, I hope to restore my 240Z the level that Carl Beck took this example. Well done Carl!
