I have a couple hundred or more shots of the Mint from 68 – about 79. They are on Flickr. Always good to see pics of this when it was fun I had a class nine car for a while and my brother had an unlimited truck until his house nad garage burned down.

I was pitting for class 8 racers Dale Sexton and Larry Wilcox , at the Mexicali 300 in 1980 , I was way , way far out in the desert late morning , waiting for their radio ck in to my pit , it was getting late and I thought that the first class 8 should have been by already , When I heard this very loud roar coming from over the next canyon , I knew it was a class 8 by the way its sounded , then a cloud of dust the size of Texas came out of the big deep wash , and it was The Big Buggy / truck thing of Mickey Thompson , I could see the top of it over the silt cloud and Man did that thing sound great , he was the first vehicle to come by , and it was another half hour before the first class 8 . Mickey was a real mans man , The real deal !!!
