Ford Edsel Off Road Race Car?

Our series of articles on vintage off road race cars has been very popular. We have seen Datsuns, AMC Ramblers, and of course, James Garners Olds 442. How about a Ford Edsel?

This thread on Race Dezert has been great! I started it to gather information about Class 6 cars and a bunch of old car racers have come out of the wood work. As you will read, they have a ton of information between them! In regards to the Edsels, there was at least 3 of them! Ray Swift owns the restored Bill Stroppe built car, which you see in the two photos above. The car was originally raced by Karl Weber and was found abandoned in 1989 by Ray Swift. Over a number of years, the car was restored to its current showroom shape. The Swifts, as per their website , they will be racing the car at the upcoming NORRA 1000 historic race , along with the James Garner Olds Banshee. Another short article on the Swift Edsel is this one. The Ed Everett car is sitting down in Mexico, as you can see below. Do you have any more information about the Edsel off road race cars?
