Have You Ever Seen A Jeep CJ-5 Camper?

jeep camper, jeep cj5 camper, jeep cj5

The popularity of our Ford Bronco Camper articles here , here , here and here proves that people are interested in seeing camperized SUV’s. Even to this day, these articles are some of the most read posts on this website. Even the International Scout camper article and Chevrolet Blazer Chalet article are extremely popular. So, when you combine the popularity of the camperized vehicle articles and the popularity of our Jeep CJ-5 articles, I think there will be a lot of people interested in seeing the restoration of this 1973 Jeep CJ5 with a camper that was an option in 1969. As you can see, the reader is has pretty much finished the restoration of the CJ and is starting to work on the camper. I will be doing another feature article with more history about the Jeep camper, but in the mean time, does anyone have information about them or photos? How do they handle?

Nice to see that at least one has survived and is in good hands ! they are really and i mean Really scarce, i havent seen one in the flesh ever, only in old pictures and promotional material from the Kaiser Jeep Corp. from ’69-’70. there is a funny set of photo’s i stumbled upon on the Flickr site, about one allmost ending in the Grand Canyon, presumably while on a photoshoot in ’69 for the factory, some peabrain must have forgot the e-brake, here’s the link, enjoy !:

    Leo,
What a great find! That is awesome! I am going to contact the owner of the photos to see if we can use them in an article. Like you, I have never seen one in person…only the odd photo here and there.

There is one on ebay for sale right now. I have never seen one of these until I ran across it on Ebay and did some research. This would be so cool to own!

I own a 1969 camper Jeep, I have only the Jeep, but I believe that all of the correct mounting hardware is there, including the electrical outlet. Mine was factory equipped with the V-6, 4.88 gears, positraction and winch. The former owner bought the Jeep down south but left the camper portion because it was in such poor shape. Everyone has seen the factory promotional photo of the white 1969. I’ve always wondered if mine is the one in the photo.
