I believe you’ve got the wrong theater listed.
Black volcanic sand was one of THE most notorious problems with the amphibious landing at Iwo Jima in the Pacific theater; it was not characteristic of the beaches of Normandy!!
So, researching pictures and landings at Iwo may help to identify this particular Jeep and those associated with it.
