Classic Desert Race Bronco Restoration

Thunderbronco-1

Gud Racing has recently purchased the Holman, Moody, Stroppe, Hearst, Sealund, KbarS race bronco and is restoring it to it’s former glory! Check out the link to see the Ford Bronco in it’s different stages, from a stock Bronco, to a mildly modified version in the late 60’s and early 70’s, followed by a lengthened body and frame. The history of this unique fiberglass body Bronco is incredible!

I was taken back in memory when i came across this site.Do you have any published information about the Bill Stroppe Bronco that crashed in the baja 1000 I think in 1969 with a co driver named Steve Smith and the Drivers last name I believe was Rose. They were the first drivers ever to die in the Baja race.My 1/2 brother Steve was the son of Clay Smith who was the creater of Clay Smith Cams and died in the Indy race while working on a pit crew,If you see those wood pecker symbols with the cigar that was his logo.Just curios.

I WORKED FOR HOLMAN AND MOODY STROPPE IN 1969 AND KNEW STEVE SMITH. I SUPPLIED THE PARTS TO BUILD THE BRONCO THEY RACED IN THE 1000. REMEMBER STEVE WELL. HE WAS A VERY TALENTED PERSON.

Clay Smith was an icon in the hot rod world! It sounded like he was an awesome guy. Good question about Steve Smith. I will ask around for you and see what I can find out.
