In the today’s world, it seems that everyone has a digital camera. They allow beginners to produce some amazing photographs. I personally started with film cameras and eventually shelled out the big dollars (at the time) for a digital camera…and never turned back. My photography improved dramatically over the first year as I was able to look at the screen and see where I could improve the photo. This also lead to many “chimping” moments, which is where you see what you think is a great shot, raise your eyebrows and become very excited while saying “Oooh Oooh Oooh”…sounding like a chimpanzee.
Check out the 80’s video below as Michael Bargo explains how he photographs monster trucks. Most of the flash information is the same as today. Remember, though, he only had one chance to get the photo right back then as he had to wait to get the photos developed before he saw if they would be keepers. There is some great footage of the Godzilla monster truck and is worth watching.
