I came across these photos and newspaper clippings in one of my parents photo albums. The Sagebrush Four Wheelers 4×4 Club off road rally took place near Kamloops BC in 1969. The lead photo is my dad drivimg his brown Jeep CJ-5. It looks like he won the hill climb in the 6 cylinder class!
Nice to see pics of Knutsford rally. Would love to see more pics. I have some. I was there with my new Bronco and hoped it was driveable after the races so we could get back home to Van.
Hi Tony,
I would love to see more photos or videos of any BC races. I grew up going to the races with my parents.
Nice to see these old pictures. We attended several rallies at Kamloops. In 1975 I won the top eliminator and have a trophy that came in a mahogany box and was supposed to be returned the next year to the Sagebrush 4 Wheelers. The Bronco Busters took over the races and there was no one to return the trophy to. Certainly would like this trophy returned to Kamloops – any ideas? We are still racing but now we do it on the salt at Bonneville.
Roger, I just saw your comment. My name is Wes Kibble and I originally started this website years ago. Those are my family photos in this article, my dad was John Kibble from Kamloops. You sir, are a legend in BC off road racing!
i live in Kamloops and have been working hard to archive the history of 4×4’s and off road racing in Canada with the hopes of eventually opening up the Canadian 4×4 museum. I have a lot of photos digitized and am working on converting videos from VHS, 8mm and Super8 to digital versions. I have also been collecting Canaidan dealer brochures, etc. Sadly, I do not have any of my dads trophies, but I do have some from Bob Nyeste. I would love to see your Top Elim trophy!!! Along with any other photos and videos. Feed free to email me at weskibble@gmail.com anytime or call me at 250-682-7771. I would love to talk to you.
