Group B was introduced by the FIA in 1982 which created some of the fastest and most sophisticated rally cars ever built. Group B is often referred to the golden era of rallying. The insane speeds of the cars and lack of crowd control resulted in many major accidents. After the death of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver Sergio Cresto in the 1986 Tour de Corse, the FIA disestablished the class.
