Nitto King of the Hammers Broadcasts Live from the Air
Above Hammertown – A “KOH First”
As motocross racers in Schampa King of the Motos rocketed across the rocky mountains of Johnson Valley, California, King of the Hammers (KOH) had their newest and most coveted “KOH first” – live coverage from the helicopter to the webcast reaching fans across the globe.
While live helicopter access used to be limited to productions with big budgets such as NASCAR, F1, and Super Bowl, the production crew at KOH created an innovative, affordable system, which accomplished the same results.
Live helicopter broadcast allows KOH to capture footage from remote places on the course and follow riders who fly across the desert at 80+ mph. Most importantly, it allows the production to include all the racers, not just the top competitors.
“Every team is important to us, which is one of the reasons webcasting has been a cornerstone to our program. When many pushed us to chase television, we knew a strong digital strategy was critical to our mission, goals, and growth. It has been exciting to push the needle not only in off-road, but in sports,” noted Hammerking Productions and King of the Hammers owner and founder Dave Cole.
As fans sit at home, in offices, at parties or watching the live feed at the local pub cheering on the hometown team, they will enjoy the new footage and access in 2018. Helicopter footage will be an integral part of all the shows at KOH this year.
In addition to the live webcast, King of the Hammers and the entire 2018 ULTRA4 Racing Series will be broadcast on NBC Sports, in multiple segments throughout the year.
The week began on Saturday with two-wheel racing. Today, four-wheel racing begins in full force with a complete schedule. The final race of the unlimited four-wheel drive vehicles, known as ULTRA4 cars, will commence on Friday, February 9th at 8 am. Tune in to the live webcast and check the schedule at www.ultra4racing.com/live.
ABOUT ULTRA4 RACING
ULTRA4 is a vehicle type, a class, and an International race series. ULTRA4 Racing was born from the popularity of the annual Nitto King of the Hammers, the toughest one-day off-road race in the world. In just a little over a decade, the sport has grown from the single King of the Hammers race to a seven race national series and four International King of the Hammers qualifiers. The vehicles are unlimited four-wheel drive creations, capable of competing in multiple racing disciplines, from extreme rock crawling, to high-speed desert racing, to short course. To highlight this point, 2018 will see the Nitto Triple Crown, consisting of King of the Hammers ULTRA4 race, the Mint 400 desert race, and the Fall Crandon short course race. ULTRA4 Racing is managed by Hammerking Productions located in Temecula, CA. ultra4racing.com.
