This 1978 Toyota Chinook 4×4 was custom built in Oregon in the early 90’s using a 1980 Toyota 4×4 chassis and 20R engine. It is currently on auction at Bring-A-Trailer with a current bid of $26,200 as of writing this and ends tomorrow at 12pm.
Personally I would have built it with a 22RE Turbo engine from a mid 80’s Toyota but I’m sure the 20R with Mikuni side-draft carbs, Comp Cams 268 camshaft and LC Engineering header gives it a little more power than a stock engine. The G52 five-speed transmission is from a 1985 Toyota.
For a truck being built back in the 90’s it looks to be in excellent condition. When first looking at the photos I expected it to be a more recent build or restoration.
