Not only does Sydney Sweeney have “great jeans”, she also bought and restored a 1969 Ford Bronco.
You might have heard some noise about her recent American Eagle jeans ad, but we’re not here for that nonsense. What did catch our attention is that she’s a legit gearhead who picked up this classic Bronco off Bring a Trailer back in 2020 and wrenched on it herself. That’s not something you see every day from a young Hollywood actress. You can still check out the original BAT listing, loaded with photos, details, and her winning bid of $48,000, right here.
“I won both my Mustang and my Bronco on Bring a Trailer,” said Sweeney in an interview with Ford CEO Jim Farley on his YouTube channel. “My dream car was a Bronco and I wanted one so bad, so I thought I’d start looking for one. I found the perfect one on BAT and I bid on it, and I ended up winning it. I managed to get it shipped to a shop with the help of my friend Rod, and he helped me work through the things that needed doing. He and the guys at the shop helped me rebuild it. I call it Cherry at the moment, but I feel it may be too on the nose, so I may change it.”
Sydney didn’t just want to keep the Bronco on the road, she set out to make it a solid daily driver with some upgrades. She replaced both the front and rear axles, cleaned up surface rust underneath, swapped the interior, added disc brakes, and even converted it from a manual to an automatic. Surprising, since she first learned to drive stick. But sometimes you just want something easier to cruise around in.
“The Bronco is my dream car. The fact I’ve achieved my dream car already means I’m not sure what to do now. I love when you can feel at one with your car, in terms of feeling the engine, smelling the gas, and such. I’ve never driven an electric car—I love cars with history and gravitate towards older vehicles. I really enjoy being able to put my love and ideas into a project. Modern cars are great for what they do for the environment, but I love a good vintage model.”
She’s even got a TikTok channel, @syds_garage, where you can catch clips of her working on the Bronco and other builds.
Whether you’re a fan of Sydney or not, it’s pretty damn cool to see someone in the spotlight wrenching on classic cars and trucks.
You can see the 1965 Ford Mustang on BAT that she bought in 2021, and restored as well.
