Restoration Of Mark Stahl’s 1977 Chenowth 1000 Off Race Buggy

Rory Ward and Jeff Furrier recently purchased Mark Stahl’s vintage 1977 Chenowth 1000 desert racing buggy with plans on racing it in the NORRA 1000 vintage off road rally next spring. The buggy has a well decorated past, having won Class 1 in the infamous Baja 1000 three times, including twice overall. Stahl also received the Ironman award for driving the Baja 1000 solo. He first raced the Chenowth buggy in the 1977 Baja 500 and his last race was the 1981 Baja 1000. The car was sold to Jim Travis, followed by a few other owners until Ward and Furrier picked it up. Follow along on Race Dezert as the rebuild this vintage off road race car from the frame up.

1974 International Scout Half Cab For Sale

1974 International Scout for sale has a somewhat rare half cab and appears to be in decent shape. Once you look past the hokey “roll bar” and the ugly flares, you see the Midas swivel seats and Rallye steering wheel.

Vintage Sand Drag Ford Bronco Being Restored!

Classic Broncos.com member My69Pony has posted some vintage photos of the off road race Bronco that his dad used to race in the 70’s and 80’s. He will be starting to restore the early Ford Bronco in the next few months. Of course, we are super excited to follow along on the progress as well as see vintage off road racing photos! The race Bronco was originally owned by Charlie Erickson from California. My69Pony’s father brought the Bronco north to Wyoming in 1970 and the rest is history!

Corvairs Crossing The South American Darien Gap?

Years ago, I heard a story about 3 Corvairs that crossed the Darrien Gap in South America. Honestly, I passed it off as gossip. The version I had heard was that the cars started in Alaska and drove the complete Pan American highway. The cars were in such good shape that they decided to cross the impassable Darien Gap…

Have You Ever Heard Of The Star Monster Truck?

I recently came across this photo of the Star Monster, which I have never heard of. How about you? Have you ever heard of the Star Monster truck? Does anyone have more photos? This photo screams 80’s monster truck!

More Barn Find Bronco Camper Photos

I am really interested in this camper. All of the Bronco campers that I have seen so far have been the popup variety from Four Wheel Campers. The winch on this unit is a bit of an oddball as well. Apparently, it is a vintage Black and Decker winch and it does work! There is a controller mounted under the dash for it. The early Bronco also has a speaker control mounted under the dash for the truck radio to go to the camper. So, have you seen a Bronco camper like this or a Black & Decker winch?
