1958 Toyota FJ25 Land Cruiser Fire Truck

We have featured a few articles about Jeep and Dodge Power Wagon Fire Trucks, but this is the first time for a Toyota Land Cruiser fire truck. The FJ25 precedes the FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser. The photos of this 1958 Toyota FJ25 fire truck were taken in Japan.

1969 Toyota FJ45 Pickup For Sale

We found this 1969 Toyota Landcruiser FJ45 Truck for sale on Ebay. At the time of writing the article, the bidding was at $7500. Given the rarity of Toyota Land Cruiser pickups, and the overall good condition, this seems like a fair price. Probably one of the largest concerns is the electrical gremlins, but the lack of rust makes up for it. What do you think?

Have you ever seen the Toyota TAC3 prototype?

We recently featured the 1969 Jeep XJ001 and Bolide prototypes. Now we are moving up to 1983, when Toyota introduced the TAC3 prototype at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is an interesting concept that was geared towards the younger, hip crowd. It was a 3 seat open top vehicle where the drivers seat in the front was mounted in the centre of the vehicle, while the rear two seats were side by side. The windshield came with both a tall version and a shorter “sport” version. Also included was the trailer that included 4 spare tires mounted on the trailer tongue. The tires look larger and more agressive and I doubt they would even fit in the small wheel wells of the TAC3. Does anyone have more information about the Toyota TAC3 prototype?

Toyota AK10: The Grandfather Of All Land Cruisers

The little known Toyota AK10 is the predecesor to the Toyota Land Cruiser. In 1941 the Imperial Japanese Army occupied the Philippines, where they found an old Bantam Mk II, and promptly brought it to Japan. The Japanese military authorities commanded Toyota to make a similar vehicle but to not model the appearance on the American Jeep. The prototype was called the Model AK and was formally adopted by The Japanese Imperial Army as the Yon-Shiki Kogata Kamotsu-Sha ( type 4 compact cargo-truck ).

Restored Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45LV Troopy For Sale

If you have been following this blog for a while, you know from our past articles on FJ45 Troopy’s that they are pretty rare in North America. As with any Toyota Land Cruiser, they tend to get eaten by rust. The restoration of this Land Cruiser for sale in Bend, Oregon appears be of great quality…of which the $39,500 price also dictates. As mentioned on Bring A Trailer, the engine has been swapped to a later 2F model. We tend to agree with them on changing the tires over to BFG all terrain or mud terrains. They seem to suit these unique vehicles a little better. Regardless, this is an excellant example of a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Troopy.

1983 RHD Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Troopy For Sale

This article we posted back in the summer about a Toyota Land Cruiser Troopy for sale is still popular. However, I think I like this 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Troopy even better. Maybe it is the pop up tent that I like, because it is definatly not the colour. The left hand drive is definatly interesting. I wonder how long it would take to get used to driving it? I would prefer it to have a diesel engine, but the stock 2F runs on both gasoline and propane. That should help out the fuel milage a little

Vintage 1960’s Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari Videos!

The Tierra Del Sol 4×4 Club Desert Safari rally started in 1967 and continues to this day! Below we have some awesome videos from the early years of the annual event, which takes place in the California desert. The Tierra Del Sol rally is easily one of the largest and most popular events in the southwest, if not for all of the USA. We hope that you enjoy the videos below. Watch them on full screen view if you can! It is really neat to see how much technology has changed over the years. Long gone are the days of manual steering, 3″ of wheel travel and bellbottoms. We are happy to see that the family aspect and friendships gained through four wheeling has not changed over the years. Not to mention bikini’s. What do you think of the videos? Do you have some old videos or photos that you would like to share?
