Now that we have the brake system refurbished (no pads or shoes necessary!) time to get her rolling. Wrapped those OEM wheels with bitchin' patina with 32x11.5x15 BFG KO2's. Replaced the wheel lug nuts just cuz. The stance is perfect!

Sorry for the lack of progress. Took forever to get an appt with MVD to get current registration. While waiting we went through the electrical and have gotten the lights and most electrical working. No major issues, corrosion at connections and bad grounds from sitting. Test drive is in the works now that I have registration and insurance.

Well, gotter out on the open road and she drives and handles like a dream! Everything works on this survivor. Amazing, absolutely amazing. All she needs now is upholstery and I'm done.

There is only surface rust on the floors but I just couldn't bring myself to cover the floors with carpet without addressing it. I purchased some of that super duper POR-15, read the instructions and got started. Here is the floor before I started.

The process did reveal a few pin holes. The floor is in absolutely great shape. Super stoked.

You may have noticed from one of the images that we removed the gauge cluster. The only gauge that worked when we got started was the AMP meter. Jake at Madhouse Mechanical went through the cluster and got all the original gauges working. Lots of corroded connections. He also had the guys at Impeccable Coatings do a very small amount of touch up work to the gauge rings to make them look stellar.

Everything on this survivor works now. I have been driving it as my daily for a couple months without issue. Once the upholstery is complete I will get a bunch of glam shots, maybe even some video of a walk around. The rig drives like a new car, amazing.

Dude... check out the OEM center caps. They have quite a bit of "pock mark" type corrosion but overall they cleaned up pretty good. I have the full set. Will install them soon. Looks like Junior will leave the patina alone and polish the hell out of all the trim for contrast.

Still have not gotten the Cherokee to upholstery, my time and $$ have been pointed towards another project. I did however work on the roof. I was about to rub the body down with a light coat of Boiled Linseed Oil to help preserve the bitchin patina and before I did that, figured I would remove the roof rack and polish up the aluminum ribs attached to the roof itself along with the rack. Here is a couple before images. Before 1.jpgBefore 2.jpg

You can see how dry the patina is.

Here is a shot of the roof after I removed the rack and the new gaskets I got from BJ's Off Road. Amazing what is available for these rigs.

As you can probably tell, I had already polished the ribs in the picture above.

This incredible Cherokee is for sale. It us currently a very dependable daily driver. I have put over 1,000 miles on it since I put it into service, bringing the total miles on this 43 year old rig to just over 13,000. Still need to do the upholstery. I will post up the interior images after I get it back.

Get me a bunch of photos and details and I will make a feature post on the ORA homepage saying its for sale. And I'll post it on my social accounts.

Thanks Curtis. Thinking it will be sale ready by end of March. Someone who is into these things will be stoked.

Well, its done. Here are some glam images. We ended up paining the chassis, wheel wells and under the hood after we saw how trick the interior came out. This gem is now 44 years old with 13,075 on the clock. Everything works, it rolls on 32x11.5x15 BFG KO2's and rides like a dream.

This survivor is solid everywhere. Rust is limited to a few wheel well corners.
