My parents purchased a surplus GPW in 1963 for $500 and decided to take the jeep to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 1965. At that time the paved road stopped outside of Mazatlan so they towed the jeep there and then proceeded on. There is a large river (Ameca) just before PV that you had to cross, a bridge was not completed until 1966. The following sequence is a tribute to my parents zest for life and spirit of adventure.
How Can We Make Off Road Action Better For You?
It’s time for a reader question – how can I make Off Road Action more useful for you?
Every 6 to 12 months I like to ask readers this question in an effort to keep improving the blog. I don’t like to lead such discussions too deliberately – but find that the discussion is better if I give a few general questions to stimulate the conversation. So here are some areas you might like to comment on:
1958 IKA Jeep JA-3AB For Sale In Argentina
This Jeep JA-3AB for sale on Ebay is totally different than what I am used to seeing! If not for the $15,000 price tag and the cost of shipping from Argentina, I would consider buying it. It is just so different! It is obviously patterned after the Jeep CJ-5, but I have never seen some of the wierd things like the steps. I love the pop out windshield, though! Have you ever seen a Jeep like this? Do you have any more information?

1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep With Buzz Saw Attatchment & Capstan Winch For Sale
This is a pretty neat Willys CJ-2A for sale. While the Jeep itself is interesting, I love the buzz saw attatchment! In the late 40’s and early 50’s, Willys marketed their Jeeps to the ranchers and other customers that could use the Willys for more than backroad adventures.
1946 Willys CJ2A in original almost rustfree condition, there is slight surface rust on the under body and one spot of rust on a hat channel at one of the mounting bolts.

Not only was the Willys Wagons used for commuting, but with simple modifications they were used as delivery vehicles, railway maintenance vehicles or ambulances, as pictured above.
Do You Remember The Fall Guy Truck?
Probably a better question is who does not remember the Fall Guy? A lifted GMC truck jumping over fences, ponds and who knows what else. I mean really, whas there any other shows in the 80’s that had better action than the Fall Guy, Dukes Of Hazzard and the A Team? For those that are too young to enjoy the memories, the show was centered around Colt Seavers (Lee Majors), who is a hollywood stunt man that takes on bounty hunter side jobs.
Southern Sunshine Monster Truck Rises Again
After been stored for 15 years, Southern Sunshine will be shining again! A lifetime dream was cut short when Mart Williams, age 26, died of an accidental drowning in Prien Lake on Thursday, June 5, 1986. Mart’s dream was most vividly expressed in “Southern Sunshine”, a four-wheel drive Chevy Monster Truck, which he built, operated and displayed to thousands of truck fans throughout the country. Ironically, on the day of Mart’s death, he received a letter from New York City recognizing “Southern Sunshine” as one of the top ten Monster Trucks in the world. But, the meaning of “Southern Sunshine” is more than just the truck that Mart built. It stands for Mart’s devotion to bringing happiness to others through recreation. Mart constantly reminded us of the need to balance our lives with a proper mix of work and recreation.
